This short animation was created for WeCareWales to support social workers in the community. Its purpose was to guide professionals on how to communicate more clearly and empathetically when interacting with individuals in care settings.
The client needed a simple, accessible way to model effective communication. The tone had to be calm and reassuring, and the message needed to come across without overcomplicating things — especially for viewers who may watch without sound or with limited time.
To keep the visuals clear and relatable, I created two abstract characters made from simple shapes. These characters “acted out” key moments in the script — showing body language, active listening, and supportive gestures. I paired this animation with on-screen text for clarity and accessibility, using a solid background colour and minimal design to maintain focus and consistency throughout.
The final animation is straightforward, warm, and easy to follow — helping social workers visualise better communication techniques in a non-patronising, practical way. The project has been well received and is now used as part of internal guidance resources.
